Colored Egg Layer. These birds are excellent layers and produce eggs that range from olive green to turquise blue. This hardy breed was developed in the U.S. in the 1970's using Araucana birds from South America. Like their eggs, they come in as assortment of colors. They are favored for their eggs, but are large enough to be used for meat. Average mature weight: roosters 5 lbs, hens 4 lbs.

I ordered 5 EE pullets for my first foray in the backyard chicken keeping hobby. I origionally picked Meyer because they were the only hatchery manning the phones on a Saturday. Turned out well!
My 5 pullets arrived happy and healthy all the way in Georgia on Tuesday, and they hatched on a Monday! Great shipping time. As per my request no extra cockerels were added for warmth. This is great because I would just have to get ri of them anyway.

I never thought that I would enjoy my chicks so much. This is my first time ordering chicks, and my first time attempting to raise chickens. My Ameraucanas are a joy to watch with their puffy heads and little bodies. They come right up to my hand and wait to get picked up! Thank you everyone, I am highly pleased.
