This black beauty is very similar to the Golden Buff with a quiet temperament and excellent brown egg production and about 1 pound more body weight. The rooster is a tall, handsome bird with markings similar to a Barred Rock, with beautiful red wattles and a nice tall comb. Average mature weight: roosters 5 to 6 lbs., hens 5 lbs.

Blackstar hens laying at 4 1/2 mos large-xtra large brown, November 21, 2008

These hens are starting to lay and are producing xtra large brown eggs here in KY and the temperatures are in the 20-30 degree range.
