Cuckoo Marans are a rare breed of chicken that has black and white banded feathers similar in appearance to a barred rock. The males are lighter colored than females. The maran's eggs are a distinctive dark chocolate brown color. These are clean-legged, single comb birds. Average mature weight: roosters 8 lbs., hens 7 lbs.

I ordered three other breeds and this one turned out to be the largest in size. Friendly and well-socialized breed that tolerates an open coop and run 24/7. Good layers with a huge chocolate colored egg as promised. Was this review helpful to you? Yes | No
