These are known as the first breed of chickens established in the Americas. Poultry lovers have been working in recent years to increase numbers of this breed, which had nearly gone extinct. These black and white barred birds are great foragers, have rosecombs, and lay brown eggs. Average mature weight: roosters 7 lbs.; hens 5 lbs.

healthy - vigorous chicks!, August 12, 2009 Reviewer: John from MT Just received a shipment of 40, Dominique straight run chicks. They seam healthy, vigorous and are very active. They started scratching, eating and drinking right off --- and any insects that have the misfortune to land in the brooder house are history!
