Faverolles were orginally bred by the French to be layers as well as for meat. Instead of white, their eggs are slightly tinted. This breed of chickens feathers beards and feathers on their feet and legs. Salmon Faverolle hens have a rounded appearance and are light salmon brown color with creamy white breast, beard and muff. Roosters have white neck (hackle) feathers, a black beard and muff; a reddish/salmon brown back with black breast, body, legs, and primary tail and wing feathers. Average mature weight: roosters 8 lbs., hens 61/2 lbs.
