The Orpington is a British chicken breed known for its docile and friendly nature, dense plumage, and hardiness in all climates. Orpingtons average 8 lbs for hens and 10 lbs for roosters and are dual-purpose, making them an excellent choice for homesteads or backyard flocks alike. They begin laying light brown to tinted eggs at 20-24 weeks, averaging 3-6 eggs per week.
