Black Swedish Ducklings

Look familiar? Some would say that Daffy Duck resembles a Black Swedish duck. This color variant of the Blue Swedish has darker blue to black feathering on the head and body with the distinctive white chest markings similar to the Blue Swedish. Swedish ducks are considered to be a good “starter duck” because of their calm personalities. The only exception, as with many breeds of waterfowl, is during the mating season when they may become more agitated or aggressive. Black Swedish Ducks lay between 100-180 eggs per year. Egg color is usually white but may also occasionally be shades of light green, gray or blue.

Drakes weigh an average of 8 pounds and ducks average 7 pounds.
