Assorted Runner Ducks

Can’t decide what color runner duck to add to your homestead? This is a great way to get a little bit of variety and be surprised all at the same time. The upright, slender posture of Runners sets them apart from other ducks and once gave them the nickname “penguin ducks.” They carry their body at an angle of 45 to 75 degrees above horizontal. They have a long history of being herded, and after many generations evolved into ducks that could travel long distances at a quick pace. They are the most energetic ducks and will forage most of the day.  They usually will out perform many chickens in egg laying.

Runner ducks will lay 3-4 eggs per week or 150-180 white to various shades of small green eggs per year. Runners are rarely broody and are cold and warm hardy. Ducks (females) range from 3 to 4 1/2 pounds and drakes (males) 3 1/2 to 5 pounds.

***You will receive a minimum of two different colors from the varieties Meyer Hatchery carries: Fawn and White, Black, Blue, or Chocolate.
