Partridge Rock Chickens are a deep-bodied, brown egg layer that is not only beautiful but also practical. Partridge Rock roosters have rich red heads and mostly red upper backs, while their body, breast, and main tail feathers are black. Their hackle and saddle feathers are greenish- black laced with red, and their wings are black and red. Hens are a deep, reddish bay color with black edging on their back, breast, and body plumage. Partridge Rocks are an excellent dual purpose breed as well as being heat and cold hardy, making them well suited for the homestead or backyard flock in any part of the country. They are also friendly and calm. You can expect from 180 to 240 large eggs per year.
