The Saxony Duck is a beautifully colored, gentle dual purpose duck. This duck was developed in the 1930’s in Germany to be an excellent larger sized dual purpose bird. The Saxony duck is a great forager, which is good for insect control. They are also known for being productive egg layers and lay large eggs.

The male Saxony Duck pattern is similar to a Mallard Duck, but they have a blue-gray head, wing marking, and tail as well as chestnut, white, and cream coloring. The female Saxony Ducks are a buff color with creamy white facial stripes, as well as a cream neck ring and underbody. Both the male and female Saxony Ducks have feathers that are close to the bird’s body, giving the duck a truly unique look. The Saxony Duck with its ability to forage, as well as being a productive egg layer, would make a great addition to any flock.
