Started Black Australorp Pullets

Black Australorps are a popular producer of large brown eggs and are known for their hardiness and persistence in laying, even in hot weather. They can produce up to 250 eggs annually and will lay into the winter. This breed matures early and is docile and quiet. When mature, these birds have glossy, all-black feathers that show a gorgeous green sheen. The roosters mature to 8 1/2 lbs and the pullets to 6 lbs.

IMPORTANT ORDERING INFORMATION: Meyer Hatchery offers started pullets in limited quantities for shipping or for pick up in Ohio. We recommend placing your order early in the season for best selection. If you are picking up your started layers, we will send you a confirmation of the pick-up date and directions. Don’t forget to bring a box or other container for transportation from the hatchery to their new home.

We can also ship started birds directly to your local post office. Meyer Hatchery will pack and ship the birds in an approved USPS shipping container, include a gel supplement to keep your birds hydrated in transit, and ship them express for overnight delivery to most locations.

Started pullets are approximately 16-20 weeks of age. They are fully vaccinated, beak trimmed, floor raised, treated for intestinal worms, and ready to move into your laying barn. A non-refundable $1 per bird deposit, ($20 minimum) is required and due at the time the order is booked.

Due to conditions beyond our control; such as feed, environment or lighting, we are unable to guarantee the production rate and/or start of production of these birds.
